India is one of the 12 mega biodiversity countries of the world. It has a rich and varied heritage of biodiversity encompassing a wide spectrum of habitats. The rich biodiversity of India is under threat due to anthropogenic activities and change in global climate, as a result, its conservation requires utmost concern not only to safeguard the biological resources but also for the welfare of entire human being.
The first chapter biodiversity and environmental monitoring deals with all aspects of biodiversity, its value, threats and conservation. It also describes the Biofertilizers and biopesticides in agro-ecosystem along with monitoring of environment.
Agriculture is the backbone of Indian economy and 1/3 of national income is generated from forests and agriculture, allied sectors. The marketing of Indian agriculture and extensions programmes are extensively discussed. The forest types, integrated forest management and conservation etc., are dealt in chapter 2 and 3.
The growing human population is making ever increasing demands upon the earth’s natural resources. In recent time, the Government of India is concentrating a lot on he harnessing of solar energy with latest technology and also tries to increase the biomass energy and hydrogen gas production. This has been emphasized in chapter 4 and 5.
