Biotechnology has affected all the major domains of human activity and welfare ranging from agriculture to medicine and environment. It has developed into an important force in the creation of employment, production and trade, and affects national economy and the quality of human life throughout the world. The range and the significance of biotechnological activities is expanding at an ever increasing rate so that the impact of biotechnology on the world economy and human welfare is likely to be far greater than that of any other discipline. It is projected that the twenty-first century belongs to biotechnology just as the later half of the present century was dominated by electronics. Sensing this demand, the articles of the book have been compiled to help the genetic engineers and also the biotechnologists to keep themselves abreast of the latest developments. This book will cater to the immediate needs of the students, researchers, faculty members and pharmaceutical industries in India and abroad.
