The present title "Biotechnology of Plant Tissues" has been designed for all those under-graduates, post-graduates and technicians who wish to know and use the principles and techniques of modern biotechnology. This text provides the essential knowledge of the core processes involved in the cultivation of plant cells and tissues enabling the readers to understand the practical application of these techniques. Chapters like preparation of Protoplasts, genetic engineering, micropropagation and preparation of haploid cell etc. play an important role in plant breeding programmes. These technique are employed to scale-up the production of desired plants. A wide range of biotechnological methods including tissue culture techniques, cryptoconservation etc. are now utilized. Language used in this text is simple, straightforward and easy understandable. It is hoped that the book will be proved boon to the students involved in the tissue culture techniques.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR P R Yadav
Dr. P.R. Yadav did post-graduation from Gorakhpur University, Gorakhpur in 1983 and Ph. D. from Banaras Hindu University in 1988. From 12-11-1990 to 31-08-1996 worked as a scientist at the Silkworm Seed Technology Laboratory, Central Silk Board, Bangalore, During this period visited People Republic of China and did a specialized course on Silkworm Nutrition and Physiology from Zhejiang Agricultural University, Hangzhou, China. Resigned the above post and joined as Lecturer in Department of Zoology, D.A.V. College, Muzaffarnagar conseqwuent upon selection by the U.P. Higher Education Services Commission, Allahabad. Has 20 yars research experience and published numerous research papers in journals of international repute. Editing two journals i.e., journal of Experimental Zoology India and Biochemical and Cellular Archives. Has teaching experience at both the graduate and post graduate level. Rajiv Tyagi obtained M.Sc. (Zoology) from Meerut University (presently Chaudhary Charan Singh University) Meerut with Ist division. He studies Entomology as a special paper. He is an active and talented researcher. His field of interest is Endocrinology. He was awarded Ph.D in the field of interest in Endocrinology. He was awarded Ph.D in the field of Reproductive Physiology. He had been teaching undergraduate and post-graduate students in the capacity of permanent lecturer in the Department of Zoology, M.M. College, Modi Nagar. Dr. Tyagi is a seasoned teacher, and participated in many national and international conferences. He is an active member and fellow of many societies and associations. He has edited many books.
