The most common birds we see are also among the most striking. In Birds of India, Jagjit Singh takes you on a tour of the greatest aviary ever built – our earth. Illustrated in water colour and lovingly descriptive of the birds’ features, habits and habitat, this is more than a mere reference book. Birds of India is a field guide for the amateur naturalist. In an India of burning forests and shrinking habitats, it is reminder of what there is to see – and a navigational tool to help see it. This book visits 200 species of birds. The reader is provided a frame of reference that is wide in scope yet clear and indepth. Above all though, this is a loving tribute to our winged cousins, from an accomplished writer-illustrator who would love to be called their best friend.
