The Brahma Sutras formulated by Sage Vyasa about 2500 years ago systematises the Jnana Kanda or the knowledge portion of the Vedas and the Upanisads and deals with the Vedanta philosophy or absolute Monism. There are several commentaries on it but none would come nearest to the concise aphorisms in brevity conciseness and manner of treatment and which while making the meaning clear does not depart from the path of condensation. A good explanation not to be annoying must leave something to be explained and understood by one's own efforts and volition. Hence this poetic annotation. This tries to give the English readers and seekers an idea of what these aphorisms are about, their subtleness as well as greatness, without going into very many unnecessary details and leaving them enough scope to elaborate on the possible interpretations themselves.
