ABOUT THE AUTHOR Dhan Pal Singh

Dr. D.P. Singh (b. 1949) is a Professor at G.B. Plant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar, India. He has the rich experience of 29 years of teaching various courses and of 33 years of research experience on rice, oilseeds and grain legumes. Disease and insect resistance breeding were his favoured areas. He has earlier published 4 useful books and about 200 articles including 1410 original research papers in the journals of National and International repute. In addition he has developed several useful germplasm of grain legumes with tolerance to both biotic and abiotic stresses, of these 18 have been released as cultivars and 3 have been registered as germplasm. For these outstanding achievements he has been honoured with awards and fellowships and of these, the Fellowship of National Academy of Agricultural Sciences, New Delhi is the most important.
