ABOUT THE AUTHOR Radha Raman

Radha Raman was born in Gorakhpur.  He received his B.S. degree in horticulture from C.s. Azad Universtiy of Agricultural and Technology, Kanpur, and his Ph. D. degree in Plant Pathology from the same university.  Following graduation he served 3 years as Professor in Crops Engineering department.  After a year he was hired as an assistant professor of plant pathology at university of Allahabad.  His assignment was 50% teaching and 50% research on viral diseases of fruits and vegetables.His teaching includes courses in introductory plant pathology, general plant pathology, plant virology and disease of florist’s crops.  His research includes studies of epidemiology, genetics and physiology of viral disease of apple, cucurbits, pepper and corn, in which he directed the studies of 20 graduate’s students and published articles in numerous journals.  Dr. Raman was promoted to associate professor in 1969 and to professor in 1979.
