Cakradatta, also known as ‘Cikitsasangraha’ or ‘Cakrasangraha’ is a popular text on ayurvedic Medicine by Cakrapanidatta, the illustrious comentator on the samhitas of Caraka and Susruta. It is of historical importance because it has documented the system of medicine prevalent during the Pala Kingdom. Almost all the later works are based on this ancient work. Uptill now there was no any book in English on ayurvedic Medicine. This edition would serve this purpose as it contains theories and practices of Ayurvedic Medicine describing all the diseases with principles of treatment, single drug remedies and compound formulations used therein. In the end, an appendix containing the medicinal plants used in the text along with botanical names has been given. An exhaustive introduction deals with the historical informations about the author and the main features of the text. The book would be useful for teachers, students and Research Scholars and general physicians.
