Scheduled castes, which constitute 16.73 per cent of the population of India, have so far been the victims of social disabilities, poverty, suppression and injustice. In recent times several processes of changes in their lives have been initiated and their own efforts have also enjoined these. The present book modestly aims at presenting a wholistic picture of the changing scenario of the scheduled castes in northern India. Theoretical conceptual frames for understanding the changing scenario are also examined and new ones are explored. It is hoped that the present book will satisfy queries concerning the multiple aspects of "the changing patterns of the scheduled castes in India".
