The volume is concerned with issues relating to child abuse and neglect. Experts from different countries present regional and global perspectives as they speak against violence on children including corporal punishment. Referring to the Asia Pacific Conference on Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect (2011), they view child abuse from a public health approach involving the grassroots and public policy initiatives. They detail the role of the media in child protection and socio-legal measures for protection of child rights. They discuss the Norwegian experience of involving children in policy making. They emphasise the need for judicial action, empowerment of family and caretakers and attitudinal changes to check abuse of children.
