Child Development of Personality Traits

Personality of a child is consequence of acquisition, assimilation and adaptation of cultural norms and values of one’s own groups through social interaction, social learning and socialization process. Personal experiences are unique to each individual child and that is one of the factors of personality differences. Personality is a multi-dimensional concept. It means, in part, the unique and distinctive characteristics of an individual. It is a consistent behaviour characteristics that is, the most characteristic integration of an individuals mode of behaviour, interests, abilities, attitudes, habits and aptitude and values of one’s own group through social interaction, social learning and socialization. The role of parents, family, and culture in the development of child’s personality have been emphasized by many psychologist. The child’s primary social experiences take place in home.
