The present publication makes a comprehensive view of the children’s problems such as their education, their social and moral hygiene, juvenile social maladjustment, child labour, adoption, child marriage, etc. But its main focus is on the developments of children’s education, particularly the education of the girl child. It highlights the fifty years of the educational planning and major recommendations of the committees and commissions set up from time to time pertaining to children’s education from pre-Independence to post-Independence period. The book has also indicated the organisations which have dealt with the questions relating to children’s developmental issues. Thus in a wider sweep in four sections this vade-mecum sets down ascertainable facts of children’s education in India.
