The third millennium and the twenty-first century started with the perspectives of dialogues between and among civilizations, cultures and values, for understanding each other better, for expressing to and impressing from each other and for learning from and exchanging experiences to each other. It took two months of hard scientific work to transform this thought into reality, to write this book. This book had been either mixed or presented in very imprecise way.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR Amalendu Guha
Amalendu Guha is an eminent historian whose work covers twentieth-century Afghanistan, medieval Assam and from the saga of the early Parasi capitalist to tribal unrest in port-colonial Northeast India. Trained as an economist, Guha has taught at Darrang College, Tezpur, the Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics, Pune, and the Delhi School of Economics, University of Delhi. he has been Professor of History at the Centre for Studies in Social Sciences, Kolkata, and a member of both the Indian Council of Social Science Research and the Indian Council of Historical Research.
