Veterinary medicine is the branch of medicine that deals with the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of disease, disorder and injury in non-human animals. The scope of veterinary medicine is wide, covering all animal species, both domesticated and wild, with a wide range of conditions which can affect different species. Veterinary science is the studt, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease in animals both as individuals and as groups. There is also a key role for members of the profession as guardians of human health in the context of disease transmission from animal or animal products to man. Veterinary science helps human health through the monitoring and control of zoonotic disease (infectious disease transmitted from non-human animal to humans), food safety, and indirectly through human applications from basic medical research. In this manual, students are given a chance to use their mind in solving fundamental questions given at the end of each exercise, and interpret and correlate the results with clinical signs of the diseases, which can be an the confirmatory diagnosis of disease.

Jhansi Rani Mallam attained B.pharmacy from Hindu college of pharmacy, Archarya Nagarjuna university and M.pharmacy from Sri Padmavathi Mahila university. She attended and presented various papers in various conferences around India. She is working as assistant professor at A.M.Reddy memorial college of harmacy, Narasaraopet, Guntur, A.P.India.
