Comic Vision of Neil Simon

This book is an in-depth study of the Great American Playwright Neil Simon, who deserves far more critical attention that is given to him. Though Simon has been quite popular with the Broadway Theatre, he has never been given a critical or literary stature as a great dramatist in the tradition of Bernard Shaw and Samuel Beckett. The author’s attempt to include Simon in the tradition and cannon of great comic playwright is appreciable. She has meticulously and critically examined some of his plays and shows that his comic vision encompasses in comic life–from the deep ethical and moral values to outer custom and social conventions. Dr. Satpathy has convincingly argued and clearly presents Simon in the category of great comic playwright.
