ABOUT THE AUTHOR James Ponniah
Dr. James Ponniah, (1989-) is the Head of the Department of Indian Studies at Jnana Deepa Vidaypeeth (JDV). He holds a doctorate from the University of Madras on Folk Religion and Ritual Power in Society. He has conducted workshops on various topics as religion and Globalisation,Transdisciplinarity, Religion and Information Age, and presented papers on various subjects like Subaltern Religion and Rituals, Ecology and Folk Religion, Folk Shamans in India, Study of Subaltern Religious Experience and Indian Christian Theology Human Emancipation, Here and Now: A Folk Religious perspective, and published many articles in different national and international journals on variety of topics. At present, he is a visiting scholar at the University of California, Berkeley, USA.
