The last few decades have seen tremendous changes in the lifestyles of men and women across all over the globe and particularly so in our own country. The status of women in India has been subject to many great changes over the past few millennia.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR R.K. Tiwari

Dr. R.K. Tiwari, Deputy Director at the National Geophysical Research Institute (NGRI), Hyderabad, obtained his Ph.D. degree in Geophysics in 1985, from the Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi. He is presently leading a project on the time series analysis and modeling of palaeoenvironmental dynamics. He was the DAAD fellow at the University of Kiel, Germany, during 1985-87 and visiting scientist at the University of Bonn, Germany in 1999. he has published several works (over 50 papers) on periodicities, predictability and chaos on varied geophysical topics in national and international journals. Dr. Tiwari is recipient of Krishnan Gold Medal of Indian Geophysical Union (1987) for his significant contributions in geophysics. He is fellow of IGU and GSI.
