The present publication is the outcome of agricultural impact study conducted in Doon Valley of Uttarakhand during the year 2001. This study was made on the initiation of WS Aitkins-UK which was the technical team behind the EEC funded watershed development project. The completion of the study led to some concrete recommendations which were found useful in future watershed developmental projects. These findings were discussed over the years with experts working in different areas of the world. The deliberations in different seminars, workshops and visits to African and Asian countries led to the understanding that these findings must be published for greater benefit of the people working in watershed development. This resulted in the publication of findings in the form of present book. It is expected that these recommendations will be helpful for hill based community watershed developmental projects. This book will be of great use to the researchers, agriculturists, foresters, policy planners and decision makers.
