Natural resources are those gift which are directly from nature. India presents nature in all its splendour. Diversity in physical and climatic condition result in wide range of natural vegetation in different region. In their turn these provide habitat for different species of animals and birds, while rain forests are found in the Andaman, Cactus are found in the Thar desert. Similarly there are alpine forests in the Himalayas while mangroves are grown in the saline soil of Andamans. Since the beginning of our civilisation the varied natural features with its flora and fauna have influenced the life and tradition of world and enriched their natural resources. It is always believed in the interrelationship among nature, environment and people. Therefore, the efforts for conservation of biodiversity and natural resources should be in tune with the processes and its occurrence in space and time from micro level to mega level. Dr. Bijay S. Singh, has got masters degree in Botany and Ph.D. in Botany with cytogenetics as specialization. He is actively engaged in research since 1992 in Forestry / Agroforestry. He has published one book on biodiversity and about twenty five research papers in reputed Journals of the country / abroad.

Dr. M.P. Singh, Head of the Department of Forest Sciences, Birsa Agricultural University, Ranchi (Jharkhand) earned his mater's degree in Botany with specialization in Taxonomy and after his PH.D degree in Floristic from Patna University and Diploma in Forestry from Forest Research Institute, Indian Council of Forestry Research & Education, Dehradun. He is a fellow in Life Sciences of Mendelian Society of India, Patna. Besides teaching Dr. Singh has been engaged with independent research in Project of Government of India as Principal investigator. He is noted Taxonomist of the country and have about twenty one years of long experiences. He is an advisor to the Government of India for whole Eastern Region on Horistic research and member of FLORA INDIA. He is the Editor of Journal "New Botanist" for forestry sector. He has published eight books in Botany, Forestry and on Environmental Sciences and also published eighty five research papers in National/International Journals. He has also guided a number of Scholar for award of Ph. D. degree in Botany as well as in Forestry. He is one of the member of Botanical Survey of India in a Research Selection Committee. He has extensively travelled in India and abroad in conection to floristic studies.

Soma Dey, has got Master’s degree in Botany. She is actively engaged in floristics research as well as in Forestry since a long time.
