The consumers are affected by the supply of defective products, provision of deficient service and various other deceptive practices in the market-place. Consumer movement is viewed as a social movement seeking to augment the rights and powers of buyers in relation to sellers. Consumer, being ignored is not fully protected despite many legal provision and the efforts of voluntary consumer organization. There lies a gap between the consumers and the protective services provided for the redressal of consumer grievances due to ineffective implementation of the policies. This book analyses the effectiveness of consumer grievances redressal machinery. It examines the consumer satisfaction/dissatisfaction of purchase, decision and their complaining behaviour. Further the effectiveness of the implementation of Consumer Protection Act, 1986 has been extensively dealt with the role played by voluntary consumer organizations in redressing consumer grievances has also been detailed out in the book.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR Renu Arora

Dr. Renu Arora, Ph.D. (Delhi University) is a Reader in the Department of Resource Management, Institute of Home Economics, University of Delhi. She has been associated with the consumer movement for the last one decade and has been teaching for the past 22 years. She has a combination of interest areas like management, marketing, finance and consumer education. She has published variuos research articles related to consumerism in both national and international journals. She has contributed to IGNOU, NIOS, VOICE, BINTY in developing study material and other consumer related activities. She guides research of post-graduate students at both masters and Ph.D. levels.
