The contribution of the inscriptions of Andhra Pradesh to the history of the temple architecture of that state from the earliest times to the fall of the Vijayanagara Empire, covering a long period of more than one and half millennia. The work is divided into seven chapters, the second to sixth being core chapters, dealing with early period and the periods of the Calukya and Chola, the Kaktiya, the Reddi and the Vijayanagara. Evidently the treatment is exhaustive. Glossary, temple plans and illustrations appended to the work are of much use.
