The academic scene today exhibits a huge affinity for cross border studies and for experimenting with inter disciplinary approaches that reveal the complexity of contemporary experiences. The world in which we live gets defined and modified by our interaction with other human beings across boundaries. This is reflected in the literary texts, performances and socio-cultural dialogues that link people and places in interesting ways. This convergence of areas of specialization and commitment is not about experimenting with different disciplines but recognition of the inner relationship among disciplines, particularly in the context of recent debates on theories of knowledge.

Research in Canadian Studies in India has always engaged with this recognation of the interstices that shape the study and formation of this body of knowledge. Interventions in Canadian Studies here have always emphasized convergence across disciplines in the context of Indo-Canadian relations. this is reflected in the literary texts, performances, and socio-cultural dialogues that link people and place in interesting ways. There is a need to study the changing dynamics of spatial configuration with all its attendant conflicts, happening both locally and globally with rapid urbanization and immigrant inflows. The present volume is a kind of stock taking of the spaces Canadian Studies continues to configure in India.
