ABOUT THE AUTHOR V.K. Mohanan

Dr. V.K. Mohanan, M.A., L.L.B., Ph.D. is Welfare Officer at the State Social Welfare Board, Trivandrum. He has been doing extensive research on various aspects of Sociology and Socio-Anthropolagy since taking his M.A. degree in Sociology from University of Kerala in 1975. He has mainly worked on the problems of research on the social structure of Kanikkars, social welfare, services in Karala, agrairan labour welfare, legal issues in welfare services and voluntary social welfare agencies. He has specialised in the field of labour laws as a part of his course in law. Dr. Mohanan is currently engaged in a study of the impact of welfare services on orphans in Kerala. Dr. Mohanan's major areas of interest are Sociology of Crime and Community, Tribal Welfare, Social Jurisprudence and Voluntary Social Services. Dr. Mohanan has published many articles in important professional journals. He is a member of various professional bodies in the country.
