This is an anthology of reminiscences and poems by three internationalist poets: ai Ch’ing (1910-1996), a renowned literature of modern China; the Chilean Nobel laureate Pablo Neruda (1904-1973); and the famous Afro-Cuban pet Nicolas Guillen (1902-1990). The verses in this book reflect the corss-cultural impressions that the three poets had during their transcontinental tour. Ai Ch’ing’s impressions of some Latin American and African countries; and Neruda and Guillen’s impressions of China, Vietnam and India constitute the corups of this book. The poems here are depictions of how they viewed different societies in other corners of the world in a cultural atmosphere so alien to them. Most of the works in this anthology are annotated. The book includes the biographic chronologies of all the three poets. A bibliography at the end of this book would help the readers in their reference. This is altogether a new endeavour towards greater understanding between the Orient and the Occident.
