ABOUT THE AUTHOR Vishwas Mehta

Dr. Vishwas Mehta, a 1986 batch IAS Officer , allocated to the Kerala Cadre, is presently working as the Director of the West Zone Cultural Centre at Udaipur, Rajasthan, on deputation from the Government of India, since 1999. Dr. Mehta has a brilliant academic record. He won six consecutive Gold medals from first year to sixth year in the B.Sc. and M.Sc. examinations of the Panjab University, Chandigarh from 1976 to 1982. He stood ninth in the all India merit list in the 1985 Civil Services examination of the UPSC. He has served the Government of Kerala in various capacities: as Dy. Secretary, Revenue; Managing Director, Kerala State co-operative Rubber Marketing Federation (Rubber Mark) and Keral State Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation (MILMA); as District Collector of the Idukki and Wayanad districts, and later on as Dy. Secretary in the Department of Culture, Ministry of Human Resource Development. Government of India, prior to his present posting as the director of the West Zone Cultural Centre. Dr. Mehta has attended many seminars and conference in India and abroad on various aspects of cultural policy, management and tourism, besides representing in the Indian cultural festivals abroad. He is a prolific reader and has published several articles in national and international journals.
