The Services have their own customs. Some of them  have been handed down from the distant past while others are of more recent origin. COLONEL HENRY ROACH (1924-1985) served during World War II as an Infantry Anti-tank (2 Pdr) gunner-officer and transferred to the Corps of Artillery when the upgraded (6 Pdr) weapon was incorporated into that arm.
