Cutting Edges: Biology of Experience in the Poetry of Kamala Das, is a comprehensive study of Kamala Das’s poetry predominantly from the feministic point of view. The book discusses almost all the aspects of her poetry which is the result of the excruciating experience a woman-poet like das undergoes in a society that always sidelines the feminine freedoms and choices in the social, familial, and personal counters. The book successfully analyses how the chromosome of metaphysical violence in this poet issues forth forceful poetry that challenges the very legitimacy of the patriarchal civilization itself. However, the book also looks into those aspects of Das’s poetry which transcend the gender concerns and step into other areas of human interactions, and examines how an all encompassing humanistic aesthetics becomes apparent in her poetic property. Since the book is an exhaustive study of Kamala Das’s poetry, which was hitherto not available, it will definitely help the teachers and students of Indian Women’s Poetry in English.
