Dairy farming is an age-old subsidiary profession in tribal areas of Madhya Pradesh. It supplements and complements the crop farming systems in  many ways. This profession enables tribal community by providing employment, income and nutritional food security. Operation flood brought about white revolution in India. While National Dairy Development Board envisaged spreading the ‘Amul Pattern’ dairy cooperatives throughout the milk sheds of the country, Madhya Pradesh government made an earnest beginning to include thirteen tribal dominated districts under MPDCF to ameliorate the condition of poor tribal people. This research investigation "A critical study on the impact of dairy development programmes on the tribals of Madhya Pradesh with special reference to dairy cooperatives" was conducted with the main objective of assessing the impact of integrated Tribal Dairy Development Programme on the socio-cultural and socio-economic life of tribal dairy farmers. This study aims at getting information on the parameters of impact of dairy cooperative societies on tribal lives. The indicators of achievement studied in this research work will bring to focus the real aspects of impact studies, especially that of dairy cooperatives. So this research investigation has a great scope in understanding the progress of work of any tribal dairy cooperative. This book evolve a strategy for strengthening dairy development programmes in tribal areas was also given to include educating farmers, building strong cooperative institutions, fixing reasonable milk prices, providing veterinary services, cattle breed improvement, fodder banks, infrastructure development and a special package deal for tribal people. In addition, this study also emphasizes the efficient running of dairy cooperative.
