In this title, we have tried to trace the historicity of dalit community and their role in socio-political and economic system of India. The practice of untouchability thus was not the result of a deliberate conspiracy to suppress the Sudras or the untouchables. It was just the holding on the wrong beliefs about religious purity. This title is classified into four chapters. Origin and development of Dalit community has been discussed in first chapter. Second chapter throws light on the identification of Dalit community. Socio-economic status of Dalit women has been described in third chapter and fourth chapter deals with the Christian participation in Dalits politics.
