Development of Persian Historiography in India: From the Second Half of the 17 Century to the First Half of the 18 Century

The tradition of Persian historiography was introduced in India, during the twelfth century. Several remarkable works on history were completed during the Sultanate and Mughal period. This volume deals with the period of the development of Persian historiography in India, from the second half of the seventeenth century to the first half of eighteenth century. Most Persian chronicles written during this period are still lying in manuscript form. This volume consisted of articles relating to Mirza Kazim’s Alamgir Nama, Ali Muhammed Khan’s Mirat-i-Ahmedi, Bhim Sen’s Nuskha-i-Dilkusha, Ishwar Das Nagar’s Futuhat-i-Alamgiri, Talish’s Fatiha-i-Ibriya etc. The proceedings of this seminar becomes more significant because the scholarly knowledge of Persian needed to use Persian chronicles, is steadily dwindling.
