Dog is highly complex animal, that has adopted to man over the centuries according to Zoologists dog represents a definite species Canis familiaris. The genus Canis includes dog, wolves, jackals and some other animals, each of which is a separate species. Thus dog is a hierarchical animal.

The origin of name dog is obscure. According to oxford English dictionary it appears in Anglo Saxon tongue before AD 1000. Similarly the origin of word bitch is likewise obscure. This too appears in Anglo-Saxon for female of any dog.

The book is intended for the benefit of dog. Our canine friends have no literary capabilities. They rely upon us to interpret their needs so that they can provide the best quality to the lives of their pets. Owners need some guideline and more knowledge. The basic need in this direction is to know terminology used for their creature.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR V K Narula

Dr. V K Narula is a veterinary Graduate of 1968 from Veternity College, Hisar under Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana. He got post graduate diploma in Marketing from Delhi University. Immediately after getting degree of B.V.S. & A.H. he joined Govt. service in the Department of Animla Husbandry, Haryana as Vet. Surgeon.He worked with Vernacular Press as a Stringer and later on became a Staff Reporter of Dainik Partap. He was honoured by Hindi Sahitya Sammelan, as one of the Writers, Who contributed Hindi Literature of Haryana. He has been associated with Veterinary Council of India, SPCA, Pet Lover's Forum, Blue Cross Society, Save Birds Society as member of their Executive bodies.
