Digital media encompasses digital audio, digital video, the world wide web and other technologies that can be used to create and distribute digital content. From the entertainment industry to the enterprise, digital media has experienced explosive growth in recent years and promises to grow more quickly and broadly in the years to come. This dictionary includes a comprehensive coverage of terms related with ‘digital’ or ‘new multimedia’, a relatively new and broad subject area that combines traditional image-production techniques like film and video, with an understanding of digital images, the computers and software used to produce them, and the networks through which they can be shared. It draws from each of these areas in hopes of providing a birds-eye view of this emerging discipline.
