Like all other professions, teachers need constant and continuous renewal to be effective, motivated, and up to date in their knowledge and skills. While this is not a mandatory requirement in many national jurisdictions, those that do have such requirements use and see information and communication technologies (ICTs) as important vehicles to provide continuing professional development to teachers. This book is an attempt to frame the applications of digital technologies in teaching. It draws on worldwide knowledge and experience to delineate the potentials of ICTs for teaching, the parameters for turning this potential into effectiveness, and the prospects of applying these capacities in different environments.
