This book provides readers with an introductory understanding of disaster, hazard, vulnerability and risk. It also gives an introduction to disaster management and risk reduction. Additional focus has been laid on disaster research, response, medicine, civil defense and humanitarian aid. Special focus lies on the role of NGOs in disaster relief. A case study of disaster management in India is made with emphasis on National Disaster Management Authority, National Disaster Response Force, National Disaster Mitigation Resource Centres, National Institute of Disaster Management and the related nodal ministries in India.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR Shagufta
Shagufta, Faculty, P.G. Department of Biotechnology, A.N. College, Patna Magadh University, is m.Sc. in Zoology and Environment (IIEE, New Delhi). She isd a dedicated teacher and an outstanding researcher. She has benn a recipient of special State Merit Scholarship throughtout her college and university years.
The author has completed her Ph.D. research work on 'Seasonal Fluctuation in Blood Glucose and Glycogen and their Hormonal Regulation with reference to Male and Female Immature, Mature and Senile, Common Indian Fowl, Gallus Gallus'. She has authored twelve books and her ten research papers published in verious reputed journals and books. She has attended and presented papers International and National Conferences and Seminars on environment. She is the member of environment wing, Confederation of Indian Graduates (CIG).
