Diversification and Sustainable Rural Livelihood

This book attempts to study the complex links between occupational diversification and the concerns for sustainable rural livelihood in semi-arid areas in Western India. It captures the nature and magnitude of the process of occupational diversification and the growing external dependence o rural livelihood systems in the semi-arid areas, particularly in the context of a changing natural resource base. Further examining the factors influencing the rural households to diversity, it assesses the role and impact of the interventions specially those aimed at improving the livelihoods. Also, it analyses the implications of the diversification and growing rural-urban linkages for issues concerning the sustainability of rural livelihoods.
