"The increase in the number of divorces today shows that divorce is being viewed as an acceptable option for women in a conflict filled marriage. This study looks at the socio-psychological problems of divorced women. It explores the reasons leading to divorce and the adjustment process of divorced women. The social and economic background of these women, their means of livelihood after divorce and the importance they place on economic independence are also examined. This study also throws light on the incidence of re-marriages after divorce. The author conducted this study by meeting 300 divorced women from a cross section of the society in an Indian state."
