One of the most important necessities in the economic development of the country is sufficient agriculture production for food security for growing population. India covers nearly 2/3rd area as rainfed area, which necessitates the prediction of drought and its management for enhancing the production. These aspects are well covered in this text book. ABOUT THE AUTHOR M L Jat

Dr. M.L. Jat was born into an agriculture family on January Ist , 1958 in Bhiwara district of rajasthan state, India. Graduating from CTAE, Udaipur, MPUAT, Udaipur (Rajastha). He obtained M.E. (Ag.) in Irrigation water management from RAU, Bikaner. He got Ph.D. in soil and water conservation engineering from MPUAT, Udaipur (Rajastha). He joined university services as Assistant Prof. In the year 1984. Presently Dr. jat is working as Associate Professor (SWE) in AICRP on Dryland Agriculture at DFRS, Arjia, Bhilwara, MPUAT, Udaipur (Rajasthan). The author has a vast experience in the field of prediction of drought and management and also in ground water. While working in AICRP on dryland agriculture and agrometeorology. He is life member of several technical societies. He has published about 50 scientific research papers and articles in several reputed international and national scientific various technical reports.
