Dr. V. Shunmugam, is the Chief Economist of the Multi Commodity Exchange of India Limited, Mumbai, Heading the economics analysis and publications division. After completing his Doctorate in Agricultutral Economics he worked with United State Department of Agriculture for about 8 years reporting on Indian agricultural sector. trade, trade policy, etc. apart from coordinating with the official of both the government of India and USA in agricultural trade policy issues. At MCX, He is responsible for analysis of market data and informing the participants and policy makers of the benefits of commodity futures in India. He is also Co-Chairman of the Economic Affairs of the Bombay Chamber.
