Economics and Ethics

It is now being increasingly realised that the study of economics should move beyond positivism and ethics and value judgement must be included both in economic analysis and in policy-making. Economic development needs to be designed to incorporate ethical considerations like justice, equality, poverty alleviation and environment protection. Indian philosophical tradition always accorded a prime place to ethics and it is neither desirable nor feasible to study economics in isolation of this tradition.
