The book contains papers dealing with methodological and empirical issues in the analysis of human behaviour. The third section deals with human behaviour and the labour market. The fourth section brings out the importance of the household on human behaviour. Aspects like decisions regarding marriage and migration, health investments, and entrepreneurial aspects of women are analysed. Each paper is written by an expert in that field. Most papers are from the doctoral theses of the contributors. Each author surveys the current state-of-the-art in his/her field and results are presented in a lucid manner. There is a paper on the academic career of the pioneer, Prof. A.M. Nalla Gounden, to whom the book is dedicated. All contributors are his students/colleagues/friends, with established reputations in their fields. The book is the first of its kind in India: first in the econometric explorations of human behaviour, first in the synthesis of market economic approach to non-market behaviour.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR T.M. Srinivasan

T.M. Srinivasan, B.Ed., MCSA, is working as Senior Consultant in a software development company in Bangalore. He has been a brilliant student in his academic career, a topper all along, and the recipient of a number of prestigious academic honours and scholarships. He is on the Board of Directors of leading organisations and is a member of various professional organisations. He is keenly interested in the disseminationo f knowledge, especially about new developments in Information Technology and their application in education and teaching. He is a prolific writer and has published a number of papers on Information Technology and Computers in variuos journals of national and international repute. His earlier books Information and Communication Technology teaching Skills and Use of Computers and Multimedia in Education were well received.
