ABOUT THE AUTHOR Malli Gandhi

Dr. Malli Gandhi (b. 1969) obtained his M.A. (1991), M.Phil. (1993) and Ph.D. (1997) in History from University of Hyderabad (Central University).  Dr. Gandhi started his teaching career as Lecturer in the Department of Social Sciences and Humanities, Regional Institute of Education, NCERT, Manasagangotri, Mysore-6.  Dr. Gandhi's fields of interest are Modern Indian History, Cultural History, Subaltern History, History of Education and Teacher Education.  He has contributed over twenty articles both in English and Telugu to various reputed journals.  He also completed 8 major NCERT research projects on tribal education of Andhra Pradesh.  He has conducted training programmes, workshops for teachers and teacher educators and developed training packages on tribal education.  He was also involved in evaluation of textbook programmes, workshops conducted by State and Central Government organizations.  Dr. Malli Gandhi was a recipient of Indian Council of Historical Research Fellowship (1993-1997).

ABOUT THE AUTHOR Vakulabharanam Lalitha

Vakulabharanam Lalitha holds a doctorate degree in Social Anthropology from the University of Calcutta. In a career spanning over almost four decades, she has been a teacher, researcher, administrator and a visiting professor. Her anthropological study of criminal tribes in Andhra Pradesh received high critical appreciation from the academic circles. She has published books, articles, research papers, monographs and special reports on various aspects of social, tribal and cultural life of Andhra Pradesh.
