Education Planning & Monitoring

The world conference on EFA aims at achieving education for all by the turn of this twentieth century. It i s hence essential to prepare the national plans to achieve the goals of EFA. In the process of developing national plans, the Asian Development Bank has given a technical assistance and organized two regional workshops on the issue. The report of the second regional workshop is reported in this book as this workshop is the final one giving the necessary details regarding the preparation of national plans of six countries, namely Bangladesh, China, India, Nepal, Pakistan and Papua New Guinea. The Member States, during the third DMeeting for Regional coordination of APPEAL, have agreed on the need to consider monitoring systems that will allow assessment of EFA progress, thus contributing towards achieving the main targets by the end of this century. As a follow-up, an Expert Group Meeting for the development of EFA Monitoring and Follow-up Information Systems was organised by UNESCO-PROAP The report of this group is published in this book to explain about the monitoring and follow-up information systems. The texts of the world Declaration on EFA and Framework for Action are also given to make the educationists aware of their two prime concepts.
