Effective health communication is essential for the dissemination of health related information. It will prove beneficial to healthcare professionals in carrying out their task of providing “Health For All”. The application of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) in health related issues have provided a platform for the production, storing, processing, dissemination and exchanging of health information. Sophisticated technologies, as channels of communication, have become powerful tools in the hands of those promoting health and have improved the quality and efficiency of healthcare in developing countries. This book provides us with an array of articles, which focus on various communication technologies, their applications and their usefulness in the promotion of health for the masses. The emergence of the newer ICTs has revolutionized health related information. In order to improve health in any nation, four major domains need to be strengthened, which are personal health management, healthcare delivery, public health and health related research. The Digital-Divide, which is the disparity in access to technology that exists across certain demographic groups, needs to be reduced for health information to percolate down to the masses. Strategies need to be evolved to improve upon the already existing health promotional activities, as mass media campaigns and other traditional approaches have proved to be inadequate, and a multi-dimensional approach is required on this front. This book is useful to healthcare professionals, medical personnel, IT professionals, NGOs and all those interested in health.
