This book presents a lucid and systematic exposition of the basic principles involved in electrical and electronics engineering. A wide spectrum of concepts is covered, ranging from the basic principles of electric circuits to the advanced area of microprocessors. The fundamental concepts are explained in sufficient detail and are adequately illustrated through suitable solved examples.
In this edition more worked numerical examples in each topic wherever need have been included. The following Chapters have been expanded with topics not covered in earlier edition: Network Theorems, Field and Circuit Fundamentals, Alternating Current Circuits, DC Machines, AC Machines, Semiconductor Devices, Operational Amplifiers and Oscillators.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR K A Krishnamurthy
K.A. Krishnamurthy received his B.E. (1967) in Electrical Engineering from NIE, Mysore, M.Tech. (1972) in Industrial Electronics from KREC, Surathkal and Ph.D. (1978) from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay. He joined the Department of Electrical Engineering, Malnad College of Engineering, Hassan in 1967 and rose to the rank of Professor & Head of E & C Engineering in 1979. He became the Vice-Principal in 1994 and the Principal during 1997-2004, since then he is the Vice-Chancellor of the newly formed Deemed University, Sri Siddhartha University, Tumkur, Karnataka.He was with the University of Manitoba, Canada during 1981-83 and 1983-84 as a Visiting Fellow. During 1988-89, he was with the Asea Brown Boveri, Switzerland as a Visiting Professor.He is the recipient of the UP State National Award (1996-97), for his innovative research activities and book writing. He is also the recipient of the J C Bose Memorial Gold Medal of IETE (1994-96). He is a Senior Member of IEEE, a Fellow of IETE and a Fellow of Institution of Engineers.His research interests are in the areas of power electronics and microprocessor based instrumentation. He has over 70 research publications in journals of national and international repute.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR M R Raghuveer
M.R. Raghuveer received his B.Sc. (Hons.) (1960) from Delhi University, B. Engg. (1963) from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, M.Sc. (Engg.) (1968) from the University of Manitoba, Winnipeg, Canada and Ph.D. (1972) from the University of Windsor, Canada.He was with the Crompton Greaves Ltd., India (1964-66) and the Federal Pioneer Electric (1968-69) as a project engineer. He was on the faculty of Electrical Engineering, University of Windsor, Canada, during 1972-79 before joining the University of Manitoba, Canada, in 1979 where he is currently a Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering. His research interests are mainly in the area of High Voltage Engineering. He has over 30 research publications. Dr. Raghuveer is a Sr. Member IEEE and a Member of APEM, Canadian Standards Committee and International Electrotechnical Commission.
