Emerging Challenges to Energy Security in the Asia Pacific Region

Given Asia’s prevailing energy consumption patterns, an understanding of the structure of its energy mix today and in the future, is a useful exercise for assessing strategic considerations regarding energy security. This book is a step in this direction. A result of an international seminar organised jointly at Chennai, India, by the Centre for Security Analysis, Chennai and the Institute of Southeast Asian Studies, Singapore: March 2009—the book addresses issues such as global trends in energy consumption, geopolitics of energy security, supply chain security, and alternative sources of energy, with specific references to Asia Pacific region and member countries such as India, China, Japan, etc. Keeping in view national and international interest on the subject of energy security, the book should be of high value to academics, policy makers and scholars of international relations and security studies.
