Majority of the books written about upliftment, development and empowerment of the scheduled castes were base on field experience. This book, though based on field study, is rich in theory. One exclusive and exhaustive chapter in the book explains about empowerment issues pertaining to scheduled castes, up to date and in detail. Unlike many other books that concentrate only on one or two development variables, this book is a comprehensive work on education, occupation, political participation, social status and empowerment of scheduled castes. ABOUT THE AUTHOR R. Vijaya Krishna Naidu
Dr. R.V.K. Naidu has joined the Department of Sociology, S.K. University, Anantapur as an Assistant Professor in the year 1985. At present he is Head of the Department. Engaged in research for about twenty years his areas of interest have been Sociology of Disadvantaged, Social Stratification, Social Mobility and Ethinic Studies. Dr. Naidu completed four research projects sponsored by UGC. He participated in several seminars and workshops and presented papers. He co-authored a textbook of Principles of Sociology in Telugu for P.G. Students, published by the Telugu Academy, Government of Andhra Pradesh. Several of his research articles were published in journals and edited books and a few more are in the process of publication. The author is a Life Member of ISS and APSS.
