The Encyclopaedia of Indian Education has been planned to serve as a convenient source of knowledge and information on a wide range of topics concerning Indian Education. It seeks to describe things as they have been in past, as they are at present and as they are likely to develop in future. The Encyclopaedia deals with all aspects of Indian Education; its major themes, stages, institutions, practices, problem-issues, concerns and projects. All the aspects have been dealt with specific reference to the Indian socio-cultural context. Entries on distinctly Indian concepts/themes especially those dealing with ancient and medieval periods, which are native to the Indian soil, have also been included in the Encyclopaedia. The Encyclopaedia comprises 301 entries contained in two volumes. The first volume includes entries from A to K and the second from L to Z arranged in alphabetical order. The Encyclopaedia is expected to serve as a work of reference for scholars, students and practitioners of education as well as for lay readers who may be interested in knowing different aspects of Indian education.
