The primary object of this encyclopaedia is to provide comprehensive assistance which may enable the students, scholars and professors to understand the position of economic theory at the present time, and to pursue such branches of inquiry as may be necessary for that end. Approximately 275 entries of 250 contributors are included in this encyclopaedia as one continuous A-Z format. It seeks to be as comprehensive as possible given the limitations of space and the knowledge of contributors and referees. Contributors have documented the nature and development of economic theory and show the links between institutions, subject areas, concepts and schools of thought. This has led to some degree of overlap which we condone as a necessary part of the whole process. Contributors were encouraged to take a global or multinational view, so that the entries reflect concerns beyond a particular geographical area.
