ABOUT THE AUTHOR John Philip Hazel

John Philip Hazel (b. 1946) studied in Public Schools in Kolkata and Shillong. On his parents’ return to their homeland in South Africa in 1966, he enrolled at the University of Durban and Lived through the tumultuous years of the antiapartheid struggle. After a graduate degree in English with History, he went to the UK at the University of Sussex. He obtained s Masters in History, passing with distinctions. He has worked with several reputed newspapers and news agencies in UK, the USA, and Europe. His love for his birthpalace, Kolkata, brings him back often, during which he has been collecting materials and notes for a forthcoming book on the architecture of the city.
