This book is carved out from the research papers presented in the national and international conferences/seminars/workshops. Major theme of the book is on energy and environmental issues — considered as two sides of the same coin. The resource — energy, is obtained from environmental resources and used in different economic sectors in carrying out various economic activities. Production of energy (both renewable and non-renewable), could directly deplete the environmental resources, and indirectly pollute the biosphere which includes lithosphere, hydrosphere, and atmosphere. Consumption of energy, especially non-renewable could create environmental damage and degradation, and the net result is environmental pollution such as land pollution, water pollution, air pollution, space pollution, marine pollution, etc. Thus, production and consumption of energy; deplete the valuable environmental and ecological resources and capitulate the damages to the environment. The drift of depletion of the environmental resources affects the present as well as future generations — our children's children, and questions their survival and sustainability which threatens our "Mother Earth". These give birth to the concept — sustainable development — in the national and international arena. With this background, the authors have taken a sincere effort to assemble and collate selected papers which echoed the major theme of the book on energy and environment.
